How To Style A Home With Framed Prints

Gallery walls can and should be a reflection of the family home. I am a firm believer after reading a few studies that having family portraits displayed around the home helps with a Childs self esteem and emotional development.

I treat my framed works as pieces of furniture and when you add them to a room, it can really help it come alive. Here are a few of my favourite ways to style a home using framed prints.

  1. symmetry

I love creating statements using symmetry as a focal point with bold large prints. Placing two side by side can really help align and shape a space in the room. You can also use lines of smaller frames for a structured gallery look.

2. Linear

Lining up frames or matted prints on a shelf can help create dimension to a particular spot in the home. Pair it with a vase some books or some of your favourite pieces.

3. Less Structured

Using 3 or more different frame types can still look unified if the the gallery is less structured. Using similar artwork or colours in the work helps create a cohesive look too.

In the past, I just mark my walls with measurements and a pencil but I really loved Joanna Gaines suggestion of using Kraft paper to create paper templates. This technique is useful in acquiring measurement accuracy and helps you visualise what the gallery will look like and how they all align and balance out.
